Bitches

My thanks to the Committee and Members of the SEWSS Club for my election to judge the Bitch classes at this show. The kindness and hospitality shown to me was second to none as was the sportsmanship of every exhibitor in accepting my placings with good grace. My co-judge and I agreed on all joint decisions and I am grateful to her for her experience, knowledge and fairness in making those choices. Thank you also to my Stewards for their help in making the whole affair run smoothly.

Minor Puppy Bitch (5,1a)

1st Waller’s Isfryn Lady Godiva. Exquisite youngster in lovely condition and so well presented. Mature in attitude for her age. Excellent marking and rich colour. Typical shape to skull with kind, biddable eye and expression. Correct clean dentition. Well balanced between front and rear, and developing well in bone and musculature throughout. Moved out straight and true coming and going, with positive drive from well placed hocks on tight, neat feet. I have no doubt that the future is bright for this girl.

2nd Dixon’s Stedigan Starz In Their Eyes. Another very promising young lady in tip top condition and well prepared. Developing well in all departments and so keen to please. Epitome of the breed in skull shape and temperament. Good overall balance. The experience was just a touch overwhelming for her on the day which affected her movement, but without doubt another to look out for.

3rd Cooper’s Isfryn Lady Grey.

Puppy Bitch (4,1a)

1st Graham’s Ferndel Cover Story About Nyliram JW. There are occasions when a Puppy is handed a green card and you can’t help but wonder from ringside whether it is mature enough to be deserving of its title. I can assure you that is not the case with this young lady, who had just a week to go before her first birthday. Presented in outstanding condition and with such rich colour to her markings, she is so typical of the breed. With her kind, biddable temperament and an overwhelming wish to please, she has an ideal shape to her skull with correct, clean dentition. Her good reach of strong clean neck leads so well into forehand, with excellent spring of rib and ideal balance between front and rear assemblies. Her pleasing height to length ratio fills the eye and she is well developed for her age in both bone and musculature. Short, strong coupling and well muscled over loin. On the move, she is straight and true coming and going with good driving action on neat feet. I couldn’t fault her and was pleased to award her the Bitch RCC. I was so pleased later, with my co-judge’s consent, to also make her Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd Woodward’s Hinxwood Fire And Ice. Another youngster who is developing well and presented in excellent condition. Sweet expression and temperament. Developing in well in bone and muscle, she is co-ordinated on the move with a smooth action on tight feet.

3rd Dixon’s Stedigan Starz In Their Eyes.

Junior Bitch (5,0a)

1st Caldwell’s Hillpark Queen Bee For Cerysan. This one year and one day old lady is a class act. I particularly liked her attitude to the job in hand and her overwhelming wish to please her handler. In super condition and developing well, she is well balanced throughout and it certainly shows when she is on the move. Her action is co-ordinated and smooth, going around the ring without any effort whatsoever.

2nd Jones’ Julita Rumours At Trosley. A substantial youngster in good condition and with an alert, biddable temperament. Strong reach of clean neck and well ribbed body allowing plenty of heartroom. Good balance between front and rear. Strong in coupling and over loin. Moved out well and true but not quite the smoothness of winner. None the less, and excellent performance all round.

3rd Jackson’s Haltonian Comedy Of Errors.

Yearling Bitch (5,0a)

1st Tew’s Pamicks Field Of Dreams JW. Quality bitch in tip top condition and well presented. Correct shape to skull with alert, kind eye and biddable attitude. Clean reach of neck and well sprung ribs. Nothing overdone yet well developed and showing great strength in bone and muscle. Strong short coupling and well muscled over loin. Correct balance fore and aft providing a co-ordinated smooth and effortless action on tight feet.

2nd Ritchie’s Sarabande Eternity At Slapestones (AI) JW. At almost two years of age, this girl is maturing well. Excellent  presentation and firm condition. Ideal shape to skull and kind eye. Well ribbed and well off for bone and muscle throughout. Not quite the smoothness of action as winner on the day and I would have preferred a touch more tightness in front feet. None the less and excellent performance.

3rd Caldwell’s Hillpark Queen Bee For Cerysan.

Maiden Bitch (5, 2a)

1st Caldwell’s Hillpark Queen Bee For Cerysan.

2nd  Woodward’s Hinxwood Fire And Ice. 3rd Hankins’ Haltonian Juliet With Woodelrond. Novice Bitch (5,0a) 1st Caldwell’s Hillpark Queen Bee For Ceryson. 2nd Woodward’s Hinxwood  Fire And Ice.

3rd Hawley’s Sorrel Berry Maternal Love.

Graduate Bitch (3,0a)

1st Barkley’s Cherryheath’s Miss Velocity JW. Two year old of good overall substance, with developed bone and musculature throughout. Very good general condition and a keen attitude to please. Correct shape to skull and well ribbed body. I would prefer slightly tighter front feet but apart from that a creditable performance. 2nd Hawley’s Sorrel Berry Maternal Love. Maturing girl in good overall condition and well presented. Excellent temperament, although expression could have more life. Developed bone and muscle overall with well sprung ribcage and good balance between front and rear. On the move she was steady but lacking a little in energetic animation. 3rd Bowman’s Amblelight Rose.

Post Graduate Bitch (7,0a)

1st Sutherland’s Jacranella Sonata. What a lucky lady to have had a litter of top class examples of the breed. This particular bitch is so full of breed type and charisma. Excellent shape to skull with kind expression and enthusiasm. In hard condition, she has a balanced overall outline and it doesn’t fail to please when you get your hands on her. Proportionate depth of sprung ribcage with strong coupling and muscular loin. On the move she is efficient and straight, driving so well and true from well placed hocks and tight strong feet.

2nd Owen’s Typica Seren Aur. Another of excellent balance and style, with good skull shape and biddable attitude. Clean reach of neck and well ribbed body. In tip top condition and presented in immaculate coat. Her topline was a touch level for me when standing, but it didn’t detract from her easy flowing action when on the move which was positive and efficient.

3rd Charles’Stagarth A Kind Of Magic.

Mid Limit Bitch (3,0a)

1st Attwood’s Kylowen Demelza. Quality bitch of correct type, who was well prepared and presented with good shape to skull and workmanlike attitude. Clean reach to neck and well sprung ribcage. Correct overall balance and well off for bone and muscle. Moved out true on neat feet.

2nd White’s Fiergen Steamy Windows. Well presented bitch with kind eye and temperament. Developed in bone and muscle throughout. Not quite the flow of easy movement as winner and front feet splayed a touch too much for me. None the less a kind lady with good attitude.

3rd Greenway’s Ferndel Story Time.

Limit Bitch (5,0a)

1st Sutherland’s Jacranella Serenade.  Outstanding two year old in first class hard condition, just oozing with breed type and quality. From her superb head shape with correct dentition and kind eye, to the balanced symmetry of her body she cannot be faulted. Ideal height to length ratio gives her a most desirable outline, which is complemented by an effortless striding action covering the ground with effortless efficiency. Her steadiness of temperament combined with a mouthwatering body shape and ideal topline, made it easy for me to hand her the BCC. With the agreement of my co-judge she was also deservedly Best Opposite Sex and Reserve Best in Show.

2nd Thomas’s Bowdonia Anastasia. In rich coat and excellent overall condition, this two year old was another who pleased me greatly. Correct balance between front and rear assemblies. Well sprung ribcage and good strength in bone and musculature. On the move she was straight and true coming and going. Well placed hocks and neat feet completed the picture. Unfortunate to come up against winner on the day.

3rd Graham’s Nyliram Miss Joules JW.

Open Bitch (7,0a)

1st Thomas & Upton’s Sh Ch Bowdonia Seraphina JW ShCM. In excellent overall condition and presentation, this girl displays perfect balance between front and rear, giving such a desirable complete picture of what the breed should look like. Desirable shape to skull with biddable expression. Correct dentition. Clean reach of strong neck leading well into forehand. Well sprung ribcage giving plenty of heartroom. Strong in bone and musculature throughout. Her movement is precise and effortless, driving well from well placed hocks and strong, tight feet.

2nd Sutherland’s Sh Ch Jacranella Symphony. Another outstanding bitch from that same litter as previously mentioned. So well balanced and proportionate throughout. Nothing overdone and so pleasing to the eye. On the day she was not as settled as winner, but none the less an exact epitome of the breed.

3rd  Caldwell’s Bodonia Bellissima For Cerysan.

Veteran Bitch (3,1a)

1st Barkley’s Cherryheath’s Miss Chief JW. A ladylike ten year old pensioner, this quality lady does everything asked of her. Showing her age in her kindly face, yet she is well bodied throughout and moves like a youngster.

2nd Luckett-Roynon’s Solva Guiletta. Seven year old in fair condition and presentation. Kind expression. Well boned and balanced between front and rear. Moved steadily and straight.

Special Beginners Bitch (4,1a)

1st Charles’ Stagarth A Kind Of Music. Preparation and presentation of this lady didn’t really do her justice. She has an attractive expression and good shape to her skull. Correct dentition. Well sprung ribcage and balanced between front and rear assemblies. Good symmetry in ratio of height to length. Strong bone but muscle could be harder. Moved out well and performed with credit once she was allowed to do so.

2nd Greenway’s Ferndel Story Time. Sweet five year old in good condition. Alert expression and biddable attitude. Well ribbed and with developed bone and musculature. A touch high on the leg for me in proportion to her length which spoilt the overall balance, but none the less she put on a very satisfactory performance.

3rd Greenway’s Ferndel Scarlet.

Special Working Bitch (2,0a) 1st Smith’s Isfryn Hocus Pocus JW. Quality three year old in tip top condition and so well presented. Balanced throughout and in hard condition, she is well ribbed and has great strength in coupling and over loin. She moved out so well, covering the ground with easy drive from well placed hocks and strong, tight feet. She could have gone on all day.

2nd White’s Fiergen Steamy Windows. See Mid Limit.

Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bitch (7,0a)

1st Attwood’s Kylowen Demelza. See Mid Limit.

2nd Jones’ Julita Rumours At Trosley. See Junior.

3rd Dixon’s Stedigan Starz In Their Eyes. See Minor Puppy.

BILL BUNCE – Judge

Since the Dog judge (Jan Janes) and the Bitch judge (Bill Bunce) agreed on all their joint decisions, my services as Referee were not required, however I was very pleased to judge Brace and Special Breeders

Brace (8 entered, 0 absent)

A lovely class – so good to see so many braces in the ring at once.  Some were not quite so well matched and others were obviously less used to being moved together as a brace.

1.     Caldwell & McDowell’s brace of beautifully matched dogs – father and son.  They moved in unison with power and drive.

2.    Graham’s well matched pair of bitches.  Didn’t move together quite as well as 1.

3.    Smith’s mother and six month old son.  Beautifully and sensitively handled, moved more slowly as befits a pair including a young puppy.

Special Breeders (2, 1 Withdrawn)

1.    Sutherland’s Sh Ch Jacranella Symphony – 2 year old well-muscled bitch.  Feminine head with sweet expression.  Would prefer a slightly more laid back shoulder.  Moved at speed, wish she had been more relaxed with her tail.
